One&Only Royal Mirage overlooks the Palm Island Bay with a kilometre of private coastline in sixty acres of landscaped gardens, water fountains and meandering pathways. It is 20 minutes from Dubai International Airport and opposite the prestigious Emirates Golf Club; and 20 minutes from the City Centre, the Gold and Spice Souks and the desert. The resort has views of The Palm Island Jumeirah, Dubai, recognised as one of the world's most impressive developments and advertised as 'being visible from the Moon.' This man-made palm-shaped structure displays 17 huge fronds framed by a 12-kilometre (7.5 miles) protective barrier. When finished, The Palm will sport 2,000 villas, 40 luxury hotels, shopping centres, cinemas, and other facilities. The project, slated to be completed in late 2007, has traffic movement to and from the island most of the day. With many impressive developments, Dubai boasts one of the highest increases in tourism in the world, now evolving to become a 'City beach' environment, where leisure is also enjoyed with shopping, excursions, golf and sailing.
